Thank you for Supporting Your Neighbours in their Fight for Fair Wages
As your neighbours and the dedicated recreation workers at the Hope Recreation Centre, we fought for a new contract that treats us fairly. We believe that taking care of our community also means making sure its workers are valued. That’s why we fought for a fair deal that addresses the rising cost of living and, most importantly, brings our wages in line with what other recreation workers in the Fraser Valley are already earning.
Why This Matters for Hope:
- We Live Here, Too: We don’t just work here—we live here. We’re proud to deliver the recreation services—from swimming and skating to community programs—that help keep Hope active, connected, and strong. Taking care of our neighbours is what we do best.
- Catching Up to Regional Standard: We did not ask for anything extraordinary. We are simply asking for wage increases that are comparable to our counterparts doing the same jobs in neighbouring communities. With rising cost of living in recent years, this is about fairness and respect for our work.
- Stronger Communities: Fair wages are essential to retain experienced, dedicated staff. This means consistent, high-quality, and safe programs for your family and ensures our recreation centre remains a stable, vibrant hub for our community. Supporting fair wages is an investment in Hope itself.
This is about more than a pay cheque. It’s about making sure Hope has strong recreation services for years to come.
Tentative Deal Reached!
Thanks to the work of the Bargaining Committee and the support of our members and our community, we were able to reach a tentative agreement between the parties, to be ratified in the coming weeks.
